"Dead Batteries Tell no Tales"
-Ancient Pirate Wisdom

The key to understanding how Made With Magic products are powered, and subsequently their capabilities, lies within the specs of the TI TPS61221 low voltage boost converter

This article shares some highly unscientific findings about some of the different ways to power your gizmos. Really useful info for folks intending to hack these things.

Notes:

The board found in the Made With Magic Glove product is a hacker's dream. Connections for the four LEDs and the infra red receiver are all through-hole type connections. That lends themselves to easier replacement than if surface mounts had been used. The battery holder is a perfectly good standalone piece that's simply wired to the Glove's board. As if those features weren't enough, these days the Glove product sells for substantially less than the other MWM products. What's not to like?

Notes:

We Made With Magic (MWM) Ear Hat owners may feel a bit jealous during the daytime when comparing our plain, white ears to the ornate decorations of their non-MWM cousins.  But, just because they don't come off the kiosk with adornments, there's no reason they have to stay that way.

One relatively quick, easy and cheap way to spruce up those ears is with removable decals.  Rotate 'em to suit your mood, occasion or season.  Print up a new batch.  Cut 'em out and add adhesive.  Stick 'em on.  Enjoy.  Repeat as necessary.

Notes: Light-up ornaments/figurines are plentiful and often can be had for very little money. Here, holiday themed light-up ornaments were purchased from Dollar Tree that work well as free standing figurines. Components taken from an Ear Hat were placed underneath and concealed with accessory decorations.

Notes:

The Headband product is already a bow. All that's needed is to release it from the Headband and then combine it with some similarly colored ribbon to light up any number of possibilities.

The featured product is a holiday wreath. However, it also works as a bow for stuffed animals, on wrapped presents, etc.
